Purchased from Dell but they don't include a Windows CD with the deal. Missing or damaged DLL files need to be reinstalled. How do I do it?

Excellent site except only sfc /scannow knows what files are needed...

Dell normally provide a CD with pre-installed systems, it may be worth getting onto Dell support.

ON the offchance, see if you've got a folder called C : \ i386. Some manufacturers who don't supply CDs put the Windows installation files in that folder. So, when it asks for the CD, point it to the above folder, if it exists. You may need to rummage around the subfolders a little to get to the driver location.

Above CD is a chargeable extra in the Dell PCs I've bought in the past, about £5. Well worth the cash.

You can build one yourself with a wizard on the machine, but I have had trouble with the wizard and been unable to create it. You can use the CD to fix any PC, if you have separate access to some drivers.

Any SP2 installation CD will do the job for you if you can borrow one.

My Dell had a program under 'Accessories' which allowed a one-off facility to make my own CD - worth looking for.
