I'm trying to find a picture I remember seeing, and hope someone here can help.
It's of a CH-47 (or possibly a CH-46) doing a pinnacle landing on the top of a mountain or very high hill. The rear wheels are on the ground, ramp down. Aircraft pitched up about 20 degrees. Muddy-brown soil, other mountains in background.
I believe it was during Vietnam, but discussions with others indicate it may have been a RAAF Chinook in Australia (although in roughly the same time period, perhaps 70s).
It is NOT the Chook landing on the rooftop in Afghanistan.
It's quite a famous image (IIRC) but I can't find it online.
L'il help?
