Hi everyone, I sent an application form off to a ground handling company and for "Position applied for" I put any, ideally airside ops. Ive since been called by them and asked to attend an interview for a Load Controller position but am having trouble finding any info on what this actually invovles, other than it being part of the ramp/cargo service. It would be much appreciated if anyone could shed any light?! Thanks !

Hi,

Might be able to help. You need to know the following:

Aircraft Weight & Balance
Familarization with Aircraft hold and cabin plan
Understanding of Dangerous Goods
Aircraft limitations Take-off/Landing/RTOW/EZFW
Knowledge of Departure Control Systems

These are some of the requirements, obviously they vary for different airlines.
You need to find out what contracts the handling agent has, which will then give you an idea of what would be required of you.

For example, Longhaul,Shorthaul or both. Aircraft types, A319 B737 etc.
Are freighter aircraft handled?
The list goes on.

You will be required to plan the distribution of load for a particular aircraft usually involving baggage and cargo within its limitations.
The plan will make sure the aircraft is in trim for take-off.

It is quite an in-depth subject depending on where you work (Airport).

For any of the Abbreviations above use the internet to learn about them.

If you have any more questions you can PM me.
