Is it possible to change a drive letter without messing around with 3rd party software tools? or if it isnt, free 3rd party tools?

Cheers

If you are playing with XP, on the desktop, right click on My Computer, select MANAGE and then STORAGE - DISK MANAGEMENT, right click on the disk you want to change and select Change Drive Letter.

Of course, you will find that you can't change the drive letter for a boot or system drive. Note that the 2 can be the same OR different disks.

It's one of my greatest hates that MS never got around to managing the installation of any OS properly in a multi-disk or multi-partition environment.

Yeah, i have C: AND D: and both cant be changed because of that...

I did a really stupid thing, i clean installed Vista, but delete the partition and then re-created it and now vista is on D:

But i have a restore partition, so

Restore = Partition 1
Windows = Partition 2 (D:)
Data = Partition 3 (C:

Some how i have managed to mess the drive lettering up,

I have a full partition of data otherwise i'd format both and start again, but i cant be bothered to backup 100gigs of data on like 24 dvd's...

Oh well,
