Just when I thought I had seen it all with regards to the irritating nature of comp's I think ive reached the apex.

I use two browsers: Firefox primarily with IE as a back up for when the latter wont support the website.

anyhow, when typing an address or selecting a bookmark using IE the website is opened on a new firefox page!!!! What the F**K!!!

I decided in my infinate wisdom to delete Firefox to force the site to open on IE, however, now it comes with an "application not found" error message.

Please help.....

That's right.
In Folder Options, File Extensions, your .htm and .html file extensions are set to open Firefox. AFAIK there isn't a way to set it up to open the prog you're already running.

Try this:

1. Open Internet Explorer.2. Go to Tools > Internet Options... Within the Internet Options window, click on the Programs tab. Check the box titled: Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser. 3. Click on Apply and then OK. 4. Close Internet Explorer and then start the program again. An Internet Explorer message should appear saying Internet Explorer is not currently your default browser. Would you like to make it your default browser? Uncheck the Always perform this check when starting Internet Explorer box, and click on Yes. Internet Explorer is now your default browser. If it is not your default browser and the message does not appear, restart your computer and launch Internet Explorer again.

I had almost the exact same problem after a recent reinstall of XP.
Was solved by installing IE7. Install from the downloads page, rather than using windows update.
If that isn't applicable or fails, this tool has proved helpful, and gets pretty good reviews.

And if all that fails go to http://www.flashpeak.com and download their Slim Browser, it beats all the other into a cocked hat!

I like Slim browser too, and use it most of the time. Although it does still use the Microsoft IE engine underneath the bonnet! I like to have my tabs at the bottom of the screen, and use the groups function heavily; as a kind of fast favourites launch control.

Mind you, I have most of the browsers available if I want something different for a particular site.
