Hi,
Last NC thread is a few months old now, and I haven't found the answer to a couple of ???:

1. What's the (official/unofficial) policy on upper age for Experienced Controller Prog, if there is one?

2. How soon do NC expect you to arrive after a job offer, should you get one - ie. what if there are a few loose ends to tie-up before moving, not associated with the application process? Do they have a max period for holding open an offer.

I asked NC these questions and got a standard ECP reply

I'd appreciate any general advice from UK ex-pats in particular, with their thoughts on the whole experience, but also from any other NC people.

Tks v. much

Doesn't seem to be an upper age limit (pretty old guy from 'up North' came to our unit (but subsequently left - sadly, a common occurence).

Some people have taken the job and then asked if they can join the next course. That can depend on what specialty you have been recruited for and the frequency of courses.

General advice.............I've no regrets but it was a long hard struggle. The quality of life compared to the UK (IMHO) is far superior. Don't expect to be treated with any/much respect for your previous experience.

Check your pms

With regards to Number 2s comment on previous experience. Maybe that depends on the unit in Canada? YYZ was fine on that front.

I believe they are only looking for Tower Controllers from "high traffic density" airfields (and that's also on the Nav Canada Website)

A friendly word of advice ............ if you are offered a position in a centre, be sure the speciality you are destined for is compatible with your experience/skills. A high level radar controller working procedural low level airspace in the frozen north?? Maybe if you're looking for a new challenge.

Tks to all - in particular Married a Canadian - I will absorb and respond to your PM.

I apologize to those regulars who read this theme of thread every 6 months or so, but it's interesting to gauge response especially as some similar threads are quite old.

I appreciate the difference between units - nothing new there - and previous posts did warn me, and I take Jericho's point.

I'd like to persist with the thread for a week or so to see if any new NC incomers have anything to add.

Cheers
