My TV appears to have lost "Discovery Wings" (looks like Sky had a re-arrangement of their documentary channels) anyone heard anything about this?
Has the channel become defunct entirely, or just Sky stopped broadcasting it, or what?
Real shame, not least for the broadcasts of the excellent "Flying Heavy Metal" which I still cannot find on DVD....

As of today (1st March) the Discovery Wings Channel has been re-launched as Discovery Turbo on Sky Channel 523.

Aviation is now linked with Trains, Motors, Motorcycles and anything else that moves by power.

Sad end to an interesting channel.

Discovery Wings was been replaced by Discovery Turbo (Cars,Trains, Planes etc) . Nothing to do with Sky. P.S Flying Heavy Metal should be possible to obtain though the internet:=

Fully appreciate that Discovery Turbo is a Discovery Channel production.

Merely stating that the channel is broadcast on Sky Channel 523.

Yes, it is a shame Wings has gone:{ . I'd noticed that over the past year or so, the amount of non aviation programming had increased on the channel. Guess it made sense to name the channel something else.

Having gone thru the Sky listings can't see anything of an aviation nature on Turbo over the next week. Lots of 'Auto Trader' and 'American Hotroad'
According to their web site there may be the odd program of interest

In the US, Disco Wings became "The Military Channel", complete with Stars and Strips motifs in Jan 2005.

Great if you're into tanks, M-16's and battle ships with your Mil Aircraft, but not much room for Civilian flying.

:hmm:
