Apparently one of the contenders for hosting the 2009 event is "near London". Further details at http://www.fai.org/fai_news_02_07.
Does anywhere know more about the site of the possible venue in the UK ?

I think you will find the location is Silverstone. The Royal Aero Club have been very unenthusiastic about the event. You will notice that there are lots of airsports left unrepresented.

The reason there has not been one for a few years is because they are very hard to organise, and very costly. I gather that next time round anything that does not bring in the punters will therefore be excluded.

Hi Skua, according to the FAI/WAG site, airsports included will comprise:

Ballooning
Microlights
Aeromodelling
Helicopters
Parachuting
Experimental Aircraft
Gliding
Aerobatics
Hang Gliding
Parachuting
Paragliding

Which other airsports aren't included ?
