Hi there,
Can anyone recommend the best day or two to go to Reno? We are planning a trip and know its the 12th-16th Sept but we can only be there for half of it. Are there any races we can't miss?

Thank you
CK

The unlimited warbirds final is the "main event" usually on the Sunday.

Without question, The best air race action is the unlimited gold final on Sunday afternoon. Normally happens around 4 PM give or take. Reno national championship Air Races are great. I have been every year since the 70's. With the diffrent classes of racing and some of the best aerobatics, plus military and static display, it won't dissappoint. Google national championship air races for the offical web site. If you stay in reno they have bus service from most of the hotels. worth the money as traffic is pretty bad Sat and Sun and busses get a special route. Parking is not free so the few bucks the bus costs is well worth it.

I have gone all four days many times in the past. If you plan 2 days, do one day in the stands and spend the cash and get a pit pass and walk around the other day. Traffic is really bad on Sun, so do not plan on getting out of there quickly, either hang oput a while or plan another day. Jump seats are usually tight in and out of Reno and Sacramento is much easier. The final Sun race comes down to who is still in the race (mech) and can be a blow out some years. Have fun!
