Hi

I am a scale model enthusiast and fly scale model warbirds and gas turbine jets up to 1/4 scale.

I am looking for a kind strip owner who would allow myself and maybe a few like minded buddies to test fly our models.

If you are, or you know a Farmer or private strip owner who could accomodate us on the South Coast, Kent or any area within our reach, I would be grateful to hear from you.

Kind regards

A local council was shutting the area that they had set aside for aeromodlers and the council aproached the owners of a nearby private airstrip to see if they would let the aeromodlers fly at the strip.

The aeromodlers have been no trouble at all and intergrate with the other users of the strip very well, but now the local council planning department is insisting that the strip owners apply for planning permision for the change of use!

If I had a strip I would welcome aeromodlers but would the local council?

It may be a bit far for you but Shoreham Airport allow modelers to use the runway after a certain time on certain days of the week. Give them a ring and ask there.

The owners of our County Show Ground permit model aircraft flying in certain areas of their space - subject to ongoing events - free of charge.
I understand that it's not an uncommon idea throughout the UK so it may be worth an enquiry.

I think some model flying goes on at Ockham. I saw a couple of really big models there when holding at the Vor a few years back. Its on your left just after the M25 when travelling S.W on the A3. Still got acres of runway there!

There often seem to be modellers at Headcorn (http://www.headcornaerodrome.co.uk).

There is a strip I think called Deanlands near golden cross that I think Model flyers some time are allowed slots.

Also I am told that there are two strips around lamberhurst one of which belongs to the Sargent family. Is there any body who has any knowlege, contacts or information regarding these strips.

Deanland information can be found here http://www.deanland-airfield.co.uk/Home.htm

There are plenty of small grass strips around Kent and East Sussex. There is a book you can buy that lists most but not all strips in the south east, I can't remember the name off-hand.

Maybe too far away for you, but there are always model aircraft flying at Dunsfold. They use the large grass area south of the main runway. Worth checking out at Dunsfold (http://www.dunsfoldaerodrome.co.uk/contact_us.asp)
