Heard today that in the not too distant future the standard dress for us blue types is going to be CS95 or the soon to be released equivelent! The green types will soon be joining the rest of us unfortunate souls onto JPA! When it came to re-organzing our engineering practices the boys in green took the lead and gave us our new rules and regs! We are all going to be involved in some sort of organised pt? So how long will it before us boys in blue will be swallowed into the big green army machine, any thoughts??

Never mind merging the Military: those of us with Civil Servants working for us have to use the CS computer system "HMRS". According to a source advising how to operate the system, all our details have to go on this computer system for when JPA merges with it. Hmmmmm. If you thought JPA was user unfriendlly try this one! Organising job interviews on it (yes we have to go this route) is a nightmare.

Enjoy!

How long ago did the stealy eyed aviators swap their nice blue flying suits for green ones?

Did they suddenly stop feeling like RAF chaps (no chapesses flying then)?

I doubt the green thing has any weight. The JAP isn't based on any single Service's practices; it's shoe-horned everyone's in...

Interestingly, when the Jt Explosive Regs were being written, the Army wasn't very engaged and we've ended up with a JSP based very closely on the old Ex Regs APs. The Senior Service, of course, uses it's own rules as soon as it hits the oggin, so doesn't really care...

That seems a pleasant change to the normal these days. Certainly on Planet Logistics, the only solution to anything is usually the Land one.

You lads must have seen tri-Service DPM as standard rig coming for years; if that's what you meant.

Engaging rant supression system, now.

Result!
No more paying for my blues every couple of months. The tax credits can go back to HMG to fund some housing for a child molesting burgular from Latvia or Nigeria!!

Should all adopt Desert Cam as the standard rig now. Save money then!

Desert Cam? Anyone would think one is inferring that we'll be out in the deserts for the forseeable future....

Funny, over on the "other" site they're all talking about how they're going from CS95 back to Barrack Dress ie lightweight OG tsrs, brown shoes, heavy weight green jersey etc when in barracks (funny that!) and reserving CS95 (and its replacement) for ops/ex.:ugh:

Shhh!

You've let the cat out of the bag, Wrathmonk!

The RAF will be getting all our CS95 because they will be doing all of the ops/exs. Read the thread re the loadie/mover doing patrols. ;)

Good point. It was 1971-72 or therabouts. We still had blue collar attached shirts though. Had to lean on stores in '73 to get a one-off issue of green shirts for a prestige air display (NZ :} ).

Did we feel less RAF? Not really as we were in KD most of the time. The new green was also more tolerant of dirty than the light blue jobs. For winter use and evasion however I prefered the dark slate grey rather than the shiny green. I also liked the white CW suits we tried in '66 although they really did look shabby against virgin snow.
