What air-to-ground capabilties? I thought the whole FA-22 thing was vapourware, dropped when they saved the programme? What are they gonna do, take down into the ground-fire zone and strafe? tell me that's sensible with a $120 million stealth fighter...

Red Flag ramps up, F-22 to make debut (http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123037340)

/12/2007 - NELLS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. (AFNEWS) -- The first Red Flag exercise this year, dubbed "Colonial Flag," is scheduled to begin Jan. 16 at Nellis AFB, marking the 32nd year for Red Flag operations.

This is the first of three Red Flags this year, and the F-22 Raptor is participating for the first time......

"The Raptor will be flying in Red Flag for the first time, and its role will be primarily air-to-air fighter escort for air-to-ground strike aircraft, but will also demonstrate its air-to-ground capabilities," he said.

Well perhaps you shouldn't believe everything you read in the press........ Personally I was more than a little impressed with their capabilities, in all arenas.
