I cant think of a successful startup in Japan that has occurred in the last ten years.
AO really didnt make it and I dont think jetstar will either.
The japanese want the substance of an established full service carrier.
Any Thoughts?

I Just Want To Fly

I agree, having lived in Japan myself too, the Japanese are very brand oriented. The older generation tend to fly either with their own national carrier, or the national carrier of their destination.

JQ Int'l has a strong chance in the Japanese market if it targets the younger generation. The younger generation is far more price concious, and would be far more willing to leave the flag carriers for a low cost, if there was a substantial price difference. Trouble is, there isn't much of a difference other than "sale" fares. JQ I'ntl will need to be consistently and substantially lower in order to win them over.
