Where can I do an ICAO syllabus Airline Operations and Flight Dispatch City & Guilds Course but doing distant learning instead of attending full time?

I have completed this course and did it through Avtech2000, a company based in Redhill, Surrey. I found the course to be very comprehensive and informative.

I know they operate this course via distance learning as I was in Sheffield when I did it and I know they have students in other countries.

I've signed up for the AVTECH 2000 courses and will be starting the foundation course first then Airline operations & dispatch, airport operations and economics and management.

Hey folks, when this started way back in the early 80s the company I was with at the time, helped with the syllabus and acted as test bed with our own Ops staff. The only other options was to get in with BEA/BOAC or take your PPL Ground School. Since those early days this has been the only UK industry wide non inhouse course not allied to the FAA 121 Dispatchers course. In fact it was greeted and backed by the then BGFOO. I did all the modules in the Airline Operations & Dispatch course and found it to be very comprehensive and enjoyable. The support I recieved from Avtech would good as well.

It helped me get a job as a Crewing Officer at First Choice Airways at Manchester, although I had to leave due to the excessive commute from Sheffield every day.

My heart lies in Flight Planning and I am desperately trying to find an entry level position with an airline with a base at either, Doncaster-Sheffield, Hull, Humberside, East Mids or Leeds-Bradford.

I would suggest you consider re-locating and search for all openings with Jeppesen UK in International Trip Planning (ITPS) at LGW. Great company, great people, great grounding in Int'l Ops with very good prospects as some of the folks ex JeppUK now in SJC @ Jepp DataPlan & NetJets Ops in Columbus OH.
Customer coverage is Air Carrier, Corporate BIZAV, Governmental, Military et al. www.jeppesen.com (http://www.jeppesen.com) click on ITPS

Also look out for Universal @ STN, again similar openings as JeppUK along with poss of stations at any of UVs US & Euro Ops locations. www.univ-wea.com (http://www.univ-wea.com)

Don't ever overlook the Int'l Flt Support folks, faster grounding in many more aspects.
