Currently converting my FAA ATP to JAA, I recently heard that the CAA / JAA can issue a transitionary license for up to one year which will enable me to work for a UK operator whilst finishing up the conversion back in Blighty.

Anyone know more info about this & the process required?

I believe the operator must apply for this for you.

Itīs done all the time in airliner ops, never heard of a helicopter operator doiung this though?

It used to be done in the early days of exploration in the North Sea....most commonly with Bristow, I believe?

There are some pilots still active on this forum who took advantage of these loopholes if I am not misatken?
