For the last couple of days I have been having this problem. If I select a contact and try to connect to computer or landline - Skype drops offline. Also the same happens if anyone tries to call me but this is recorded in history. Skype chat works fine as does MSN messenger both on text and voice. I had this problem a year ago and it was resolved by downloading the latest update. I now have the latest version. Checked that by using the facility under help. I have fired off a message to Skype but I guess it will be a while before I get a reply. Any ideas appreciated- Fly

Do you, perchance, have a router with DDOS etc protection?

Mine has "switches" in the software to allow or deny a whole raft of potential connections, from Kazaa through MSN Messenger, Skype, to pornsites and who knows what else. A power cut last year caused the router deep offence, and it turned all those ON.

I left most of them on, but turned the Skype-related one off.

HI, I was having a few Skype problems on Windows, last week, until downloaded version 2 late last week, seems to have eradicated the bugs.

Mac users also now on version 2 and they also have now a useful widget for Mac users too, which calls up dialling codes and rates.
