I am in contact with a WWII Lancaster sgt pilot who is very keen to submit an article to Spirit of the Air (the RAF's Core Ethos magazine) concerning his basic flying training and his time at his OCU (in Cape Town!). I pitched the idea to the magazine's editor; essentially, what I would like to do is submit an article contrasting Mr Allington's experiences against those of a modern RAF pilot (muds or multis would be ideal). The editor would like to go ahead, so I've asked Mr Allington to send me his work.

So... if you'd be interested in helping me out, please drop me a PM so that we can discuss it further.

Cheers

One reply so far... are there no other young thrusters who'd like to contrast their experiences with this old warrior's?

Trouble is that the RAFs training system is now so shamefully woeful that nobody is interested in telling the embarrassing story ..............
