Scart and stuff

Hi, a quickie,
If I connect the output of two seperate devices into one scart port on my TV,
using a splitter of some description,
what will happen if both devices, (say dvd player and games console) are turned on. will there be much smoke?

Ha, No didnt expect that, what I mean is if both devices are turned on, how does it know which to pick?
