Hey there folks,

I am collecting a photo collection of Bell 214B/B-1's past and present that I hope to post to a website once complete that covers all 70 of these machines if possible. If anyone has some pics of RMH's, Paramount, CRI etc... former 214's or any others, I would love to see them posted. Some info with the pics would also be great.

Cheers.

I have a bunch of decent pictures of a 214B doing aerial work near Gothemburg. I went there with one of the contractors for 3G site construction with his MD500E and watched the show. Impressive machine, impressive fuel consumption and impressive amounts of soot on the tailboom after an hours' worth of work...

PM me and I'll send them to you.

Nice pic. I hope that tarpaulin over the logpile was well secured.

Checked it myself... There were a number of loose items on the premises when we got there. Not a problem for the 500, but for the 214 - oh yeah. We spent an hour calming the landowner and securing stuff... Wonderful day. The Norwegian tech said (translated): "It's two kronor for each beat of the blade" in response to my question about operating costs of the beast in question.

I already have both these photos on a server, so here they are... I might dig up some more in a day or two. I can provide larger and higher quality versions of these if you'd like, just let me know.

Hiro,

Wow. The second shot must be a candidate for a forthcoming Rotorheads calendar. Have you thought about submitting it?

Nice to see the pics guys. I am really looking for some pics of the machines used for logging back in the early days of Rocky Mountain Helicopters, Chet Rasberry Inc etc.... If anybody has some old pics of these machines in thier glory days it would be nice to see them.

Cheers.

I've got some of the Sultan of Oman's Air Force 214Bs, I'd have to scan them in, so not sure about the quality. It was said that ours were 214Bs with the 214A's fuel tanks, (2000lb max), never did find out if that was true!

Sailor Vee, Yes the Omani 214B's had the larger fuel system in them, same as the UAE Airforce 214B's.

Someone ask for ST photographs? Shots below are from Royal Thai Naval Base Utapao during 214ST demo. 1979 or 80. Third pic down shows, on left, Jim Summerscales, HeliOrient Singapore, then Dale Courts, Bell.

Bottom pic shows, in right hand seat, Cmdr Veerasa (sp) RTN, then to right, Frank Radspinner, Bell; Tom Suchard, HeliOrient. Memory's fine but thanks for asking. :)

........................and inertial separator exits.

The T55 engine is only slightly bigger than a T53. Granted there is a bit more exhaust gas flow but the large duct is to augment the flow of the inertial separator. Similar to the 212/412 but no bypass door. Looks the part though.

As the photo shows the tailpipe is bigger than the engine.

In this pic you can see the duct in the engine door.

One of my old mans Steve's photos. In public domain so I am sure he wont mind. His comments below.

"Bell 214B demonstrator flown by a Bell demo pilot, at Berakas Camp, Brunei 1976. This was a lift demonstration. They asked for full fuel drums. We gave 'em drums full of water. The 214B struggled, but still managed the lift."
