Just received this info and thought it may be of some interest to fellow Rotorheads. Hopefully Heliport will let it stay. I am in no way associated with the company. Cheers.

Salary negotiable. Package tbc. Start date asap.
Our client is a helicopter charter company operating throughout the East African region. They are interested in receiving applications for pilot positions. The successful applicants will be motivated, independent, English speaking individuals willing and able to undertake a variety of challenging tasks in diverse and flexible environments.

Minimum requirements:

1. UK/JAA CPL(H), FAA ATP(H)

2. Minimum 2000 H (1500 Turbine)

3. Twin experience preferred

4. Type ratings preferred AS350, AS355

5. Military experience preferred

6. NVG experience preferred

7. Management experience required

8. IT proficient


Engineers should hold ICAO licence with AS350 / 355, BK117, EC130 or similar types

Good licence, >2000h, Twins of course, exmilitary, NVG specialist, perfect manager and IT expert? :confused: "in diverse and flexible environments" ???

I think Helicrew deal with mostly ex-mil types. Not too many other people with that experience who would want to go there I guess.

I got the same job offered from Helicrew Solution. I did a little snoop, but it isn't in Kenya or other nice places. Probably a little more north in an area I don't want to fly. There is possibly also other metal flying arround much quicker than a helicopter :eek:

stuff. not mercenaries, just flying on medivac and running a solo operation. I went there last year to maintain the 355 and it is UN type activity. But you will sleep in a tent sometimes and have to not winge when it leaks!

/Great experience, actually thought I made a difference to someones life without being directly involved as a driver.

"just flying on medivac" on a civil war area. Affirmative, this couldn't called war stuff because you have to sleep in tents and not in concrete bunkers. Makes more camping and barbecue feelings.

Now i know why you need the IT experience. To lay in leaking tents and send the daily cash journal home.

Don't knock it until you've tried it! If your the resilient independent type, strong enough to hump fuel drums about and take care of your yourself and the aircraft, you could find this job rewarding for the soul..................if not the pocket! Get away from the smoking jackets and carpet slippers that most pilots live in and experience frontier flying in the bush, the uncertainties, the frustrations, the heat, the mosquitos, the mud, the sand, the rain, and some of the most pleasant people I've ever met. And then have an ice cold beer on the banks of the Nile (600NM NW of Nairobi). If you think your seriously up for the challenge, give it a go...............and then by all means knock it if you must.

Hell I'd give it a go if I had a CPL(H)/ATP(H), 1900 odd more hours (1475 more turbine) and any twin, mil, squirrel or NVG equperience!
At least I can tick the remaining 2 boxes - I CAN sit down behind a desk all day!
Seriously, it might not be easy, but I agree with kissmysquirrel - it would likely be a lot more interesting than a lot of jobs in this country...
