Excellent news and a great coup for the Organisers of one of the few FREE Airshows in Europe, well done indeed.

Great news and I'm very jealous as its one of those aircraft I have always wanted to see as well as the F15 that I saw you had this year.
Hopefully the NI airshow will have as good of a lineup.

So I see they are going to be at RIAT 2007......which will no doubt mean a 10 minute gap in the Flying Programme while their announcer "whips up" the audience into a frenzy :bored:

RIAT? Oh good, should be able to see them from here.:E

The Thunderbirds. Quite possibly the worst display team in the world – you are welcome to them.

No words can express the mind-numbing dullness of their endlessly boring routine, most of it spent with the aircraft in another time zone...at least the crowd will be spared the self-indulgent 5-hour pantomime of watching them get in and get out of their jets...and I look forward to the announcer urging the crowd to welcome "Your US Air Force" as they are wont to do...

The rarity of the Thunderbirds will make a refreshing change from RAFAT. I have never seen them perform, but certainly look forward to the opportunity to make up my own mind. Shame the Italians won't be there (or will they?), now that is an entertaining display. :ok:

I agree. A very dull display. The most exciting thing they've done for years is spread one down the runway. I'd PAY to see that...:E (as long as no-one was hurt, of course!)

Seen them twice in the UK. Would rather see the Blue Angels as not seen them at all.

Yes I agree with a previous poster, that interesting I fell asleep what with the saluting marching up to aircraft saga. "Cockpit, cockpit shut, yawn"

Having seen both teams often I can only say its a good time to go get your photos of the static display. Pretty aircraft, skillfully flown but rarely in front of the crowd. I can imagine that when they appear at Fairford you would see more of them if you were at Lynham, Brize or Kemble.

Maybe the Fairford fly pro planners could fit a couple of other displays into each of the gaps between the 4 ship and 2 ship. Yawn. Or maybe there's time for a P break.

Just to show how boring these can be. Last year I saw the T birds at Randolph AFB, San Antonio, Texas. where they stopped the display and called the crowd forward to watch the 'formation ground run' to music. They actually played classic music whilst the ground crew chiefs saluted each other marched out to their charges, mounted, and proceded to Start, run and stop their engines in unison as part of the pre show checkout. And all the time to music.

They stopped the show for about 40 minutes to allow this demonstration to happen. Mind you Elmer loved it.

That will fit in great at Fairford, NOT

I love the "Statler and Waldorf" posts! While, in your opinion, the Thunderbirds are no Red Arrows, the T-birds are flying fighters.

Fair trade, I reckon....

Brick

All that means is they disappear from view even faster than they would otherwise...

Saw them at Mildenhall in '84. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:E

Would much rather see the Blue Angels C-130 do a RATOG take off.

Oh come on guys, for f***s sake, give them a break! I saw the Thunderbirds when they flew F-4 PHANTOMS!!! Yes, not the Reds, but still entertaining, weren't they? Christ's sake, lighten up!! Enjoy the flying!

Blue Angles C-130 with the 8 rockets, great fun, especially when on the flight deck for it. 6 minutes of pleasure.

As for the Thunderbirds, watch out for the 10 inch thunderbirds patch on the suits.

Found both the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels displays ok but go on far too long. Around 40 minutes with some ridiculous commentary.
