My airline may be taken over by a group in which Texas Pacific has a large part in.
I understand that Continental had some experience with Texas Pacific a number of years ago, I was wondering what this experience was like and what we may be in for!

Quantas is under the gun from David Bonderman and Texas Pacific

I'm talking about a take over of Qantas by a group of Bankers and finance/investment houses which includes Texas Pacific. Texas Pacific will hold about 15%.

As of this morning the Qantas board seems to have approved the offer having rejected it yesterday. More interesting times I guess!

You are correct Airbus Jockey, things are changing quickly. Out of the targeted airlines I believe Qantas is the only one making a reasonable profit.

I trying to seek information on Continental Airlines Boeing 737-800 pilot endorsement courses but can not find a current e-mail, if there any person out there that have a current contact within the CO pilot training centre can you please PM the details.

Try this one. Links to the contract training website. Usually you get an answer within a few hours. However, they are quite busy now and be prepared that the intake of external contract students is very few per year. I suggest that you have a very well prepared resume ready (and already accumulated some jet/tprop experience) because they study these papers very carefully, as well as your background and experience. Don't be surprised if they say no to a training request, happens quite often actually. They train you according to CAL standards and procedures (some things are a bit different than generic Boeing) but the training delivered is top notch and no difference made between CAL pilot and contract trainee.

On the last vacancy bid, the junior guys able to hold Captain, have been with the company for 23 months, and were down to about 83% on the list. The reason - senior FO's are holding off bidding Captain due to the new Preferential Bidding System which is degrading schedules and lifestyles.

So for a quick upgrade pursue that Continental job, and when you want a life (and you have the seniority) you can bid up/down to FO.

In Cx we are about to start flying across the Pole from HKG to JFK in our new 777-300ER's.

You guys/girls at Continental have been doing this for quite a while in your 777's. Do any of you have good briefing material on the en-route airfields?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - American Airlines (AMR.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Continental Airlines Inc (CAL.N: Quote, Profile, Research) have had exploratory talks about a merger, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Citing people familiar with the situation, the report said it was not clear if the discussions would go any further. Continental has been in intensifying discussions with United Airlines (UAUA.O: Quote, Profile, Research) about a possible tie up.

It is unclear if the latest development with American, reflects on prospects for UAL Corp's United and Continental.

Industry experts have also suggested American might want to pursue a smaller low-cost airline rather than a network rival.

The flurry of merger speculation comes as Northwest Airlines Corp (NWA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Delta Air Lines Inc (DAL.N: Quote, Profile, Research) near a possible merger proposal. Industry sources have said a deal could be announced as early as next week.

Continental has declined to comment on potential mergers. American officials could not be reached immediately for comment.

The shares of big U.S. airlines closed higher on Friday. American parent AMR Corp was up 44 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $15.25, while Continental finished up 99 cents, or 3.4 percent, at $29.69.
