When coming through security screening as a crew yesterday morning (1.12) at EDDK we were warned that as of next week new security measures will be enforced which will include the need for everyone to remove their shoes, all crew & pax.

This will include all ops at the pax terminal and at the GAT (where you get screened twice anyway) so expect delays as they will have no where near the required amount of screeners to expeditiously deal with pre Christmas traffic levels.

Apparently this has all come about since the airport failed a security probe sometime recently, whether this probe was internal, LBA or BGS we were not informed. Wether these measures will spread to other airports in Germany is yet to be determined.

We were told to expect delays and personally our organisation is now formulating contingencies to make EDDK a second option in NRW.
