I'm over half way through a 30yr, non-aviation career. I have a reasonable salary, comfortable lifestyle, 'stuff', i'm fit and healthy, with a bit of spare cash. Here's the rub. Since I can remember, and still, i am fascinated by helicopters. Not quite a spotter, and fixed wings just don't do it for me, but i have never lost interest in simply watching a million rivetts doing what only they can do. Do you remember looking skywards and wishing? So this Christmas and birthday i'll be un-wrapping text book after text book, and early new year starting with my PPL(H). Who knows how far or where it will take me, but whilst paying the mortgage and holding down a full time job the CPL is the goal over the next few years. Having been a visitor to this site for a while now i can hear the cries of 'dont do it', but you already know i'm beyond help, please be there if i need you guys. We all started somewhere.
