Well here it is, the inevitable photo of Capt Hollywood (and the new Mrs Hollywood as of last Sauturday!) in Hollywood.

Well yes, I know the real Hollywood is just behind that big picture of the Hollywood sign that was at Universal Studios but you get the idea!

I'm now in Vegas and am thinking of taking one of Mavericks EC130 flights, possibly to the Canyon or at least over the strip at night. (FYI we can't do single engine charter ops at night in Oz!) Anyone from Mavericks on the forum care to drop me a pm and let me know what they think is the best option............. and of course what the best fellow ppruner mates rates are, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more!! :ok:

Cheers,

Capt & Mrs Hollywood!

Congratulations and best wishes to you and Mrs Hollywood. :ok:

You might want to contact B Sousa - like yourself, one of the regulars of this forum.

Bert flies tours - not sure which company.
And, unless he's already departed to the Caribbean for the winter, you might be able to fly with a fellow Rotorhead.

Even if he has, he could advise you.

I think you're right.

Just found this post - written in classic Bert style.

All the tour companies are money factories. Load them in do the job. Consider the average Pilot there does easily four 1.5 hour flights daily and pushes the 14 hour workday.
BUT as one who flys there once in a while give Papillon a shot. www.papillon.com (http://www.papillon.com/) you can book over the internet.

Just so you know, Papillion is out of the south rim of the Grand Canyon, not Vegas.

Congrats and best wishes Cap.

Helopat - Papillon does have an operation out of Vegas as well as the South Rim. Also, when I worked for them I don't remember Bert (although from his posts I wish I had met him). From some of his posts, I am guessing he works for HeliUSA, which is located next to the "Rainbow Warriors." ;)

Capt Hollywood - Don't skip the day canyon trip. You'll regret it. You need to do it once in your lifetime. It's only a 45 minute chopper ride from Vegas. As for the best trip from Maverick, it's probably the one that lands in the bottom of the canyon so you can get a walk around. If you're looking at other companies, make sure they actually "land" at the bottom of the canyon. I spent a year and a half working out of the South Rim and Vegas. Flying over the canyon is majestic, but landing at the bottom and looking up is breathtaking.

Cheers!

I am at Papillon www.papillon.com (http://www.papillon.com) and will be in the EC today (Sunday) after I find my uniform, some coffee and a shower, not necessarily in that order.

Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes. We're back in Oz now and it's back to reality tomorrow. Ended up doing a night flight around the Vegas strip at night with Mavericks, didn't have the budget for anything longer unfortunately, maybe next time. We did drive down to the Grand Canyon and stay the night but it snowed the next morning so the heli's weren't flying, bugger! Don't really have any pics of heli's but I did buy a video camera and got a couple of nice bits of footage, see links below.

Cheers,
