JAA Skills Test & IR - Anywhere USA

Doing some research into JAA approved examiners here in the good old USA. I am looking for an examiner who can conduct the skills test & IR (must be both) in a S76B (only aircraft I am currently typed in).

So who knows where these elusive species are hiding? :D

Try Mike Bowden at HAI, I am not sure if he is current S-76 though, but if there is such a beast in the US, he would know.

a bit out of my area here - but i thought you had to do JAA IR in Europe?

Rudestuff - I think he means S76 LPC and IR proficiency check or that´s how I understand the post?

A JAA Flight examiner or TRE can do that anywhere in world.

edit. Hmmm after rereading the post I see he mentions skill test! So i dont know. But you are right an initial JAA IR has to be done in Europe.

Get thee to FlightSafety International, West Plam Beach, Florida, USA.

Ensure that they schedule you with one of their JAR TRE/IREs and be 10000% sure that they understand that it is an INITIAL JAR Type Rating that you are after.

Regarding the INITIAL IR......dunno.

Bomber ARIS : Good point there, I have my Initial at Flight Safety but it was not defined specifically to the JAA - just a P1 Initial and thereafter my P1 Recurrent every 6 months. I will have to inquire with FSI as to whether they can do both at the same when I am down there again in March.

FSI can do it for you, just ensure that you get programmed in for another INITIAL (not recurrent) and that they will have their JAR TRE/IRE available.

The planning needs to be done well in advance. I just turned up with an expectation that it could be done only to be told that the JAA TRE/IRE would not be in that week:{ :ugh:

Also, don't forget the price/time differential between initial and recurrent.

P.S. If you have over 500 hours on type, you may not need to redo the full initial type rating course - full details would be available in the UK CAA LASORS publication, available free fom the CAA website. (I don't live in Europe anymore so am not up to speed with all that jazz)

Bomber Aris, cheers for your message and info. I must clarify the following though

I am current FAA "typed" in the S76 and due to the fact that I have over 500 in type I do not need to do an approved course for the JAA Type Rating, a JAA examiner at FSI can do it without it being another initial - check ride only.

What I need to get done at somepoint next year is:

my initial skills test for the JAA ATP and hopefully combine this ride with the IR skills test. I am currently in the process of converting my FAA ATP over to the JAA ATP.

Anyone know if I can do these skills tests in the sim at FSI?????:ok:

UK CAA told me a few years back that you have to do an initial helicopter instrument in the aircraft.

The simulator can be used for subsquent types.

But I expect it is just a case of who you ask!!!
