Hi guys, stumbled on this piece in the Air Force Times about Rumsfeld having to go and thought you'd like reading it:

http://www.airforcetimes.com/story.php?f=1-292925-2333360.php

are the americans finally starting to think clearly, or is it just a question of finally having the bottle to say what has been on pretty much everyone's mind?

Stumble some more, it was printed simultaneously as the editorial in the Nov 13 issues of the Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times....

So what are you suggesting? The us forces being organised and actually talking to each other for once? surely things haven't gotten this bad that they are actually co-ordinating. before you know it they'll be checking with what the rest of the world is doing!
anyway, rumsfeld on the way out... would be nice i have to say. but does anyone remember paul wolfowitz? i think it was him who suggested in 2002 that instead of invading iraq the us should bomb iran back to the middle ages.:ugh:
at least they parked him at the world bank... good to know who is in charge of international development.:ok:

Wolfowitz proposed "bombing them back to the Stone Age", not advancing them!

The Army/Navy/Air Force/Marine Times are privately-owned, and not official mouthpieces of the US military. So, like any other independent newspaper, they are simply running an editorial.

Exactly snapper, and this is just another example of some left wing, girly, conscientious objector types mouthing off in a few select publications about their own communist views, instead of representing the people who pay their wages - or at least that's what the White House would have you believe...

......................and he's gone!

After "thoughtful conversations" with Secretary Rumsfeld President George W Bush has decided it is time for "new leadership at the Pentagon"

Amazing what a good kicking at the polls and losing control of the Senate can do isn't it? All this only a week after stating that Rumsfeld would serve as his Secretary for defence until the end of the current regime in January 2009. Who was it who said a week is a long time in politics?

Bye Bye Donald.................

....what makes you think that once Rummy has gone that policies will change?

It will be the same equipment, training, and deployments/operations.

The monkey may have gone, but the organ grinder is still there! Hands will be severly cuffed though!!!!!

:D

IMO!!!!!

The problems for the Democrats is that they actually do not have a different policy. The most cruel thing he could do is ask the Democrats to nominate a replacement...

Exactly, nothing has changed in the glorious new dawn of democracy currently sweeping Iraq. Just because the chief knob-hound has fnally thrown himself on the alter of self-publicity and gone, things won't get any easier out there for those who still serve.
