Tinbashette and I are flying 680K - MAN to FNC on 18 Dec with Thomas Cook and return on 8 Jan 07. Could anyone advise on aircraft type please. Any other info on aircraft quality and cabin services would be welcomed too. I was offered an additional baggage allowance of 5kg for £25GBP per person which I declined! Is this airline a bit stringent on allowances?

TCX680K/L is currently operated by B757-300 aircraft. No reason to suspect it will be any different on Dec 18th.

From recent experience, TCX will charge for every ounce over your stated baggage allowance without exception. Check your allowance carefully as some tickets have a reduced allowance of 15Kg.

If Tinbashette likes to take the kitchen sink, the offer of advance payment seems cheaper per Kg than the charge at check-in.

Thank you TSR2 for your prompt response. TCX did state that the advance charge was cheaper than their check-in one.
I remember some time back when the company used the expression 'unwrapping the package holiday', suggesting that by doing this, it would work out cheaper. I suppose it does really if you just take one pair of shreddies and one tea shirt, don't have anything to eat and drink on the flight and don't buy their headphones so you can view the in flight films!

It's all part of the great British rip-off I suppose....

By the way, TCX are not noted for being over generous with seat pitching on European flights so I hope you are not a big strapping fella.

Big in the wrong place, unfortunately! I've paid for more room so that I can get my table down (maybe), and it's not my legs that are my problem! Flew to PFO with Monarch, guy behind was 6'8", and was he in trouble. Although he paid for extra room, he spent most of the time standing by the loo. Taking to the air is not fun any more at all, but it's all Mr and Mrs Average can do if they want a bit of the high life.
