BBC Scotland reports light plane ditched off Nairn on 5:30 news.

"No aircraft have been reported missing"

Hopefully a false alarm, we used to get folk calling the police saying we had "crashed" fairly regularly when doing low level training up that way.

Daysleeper -- I hope you are right on that one -- last BBC news reports the eyewitness as claiming to have seen someone in the water. How much you can see from at least 1/2 mile away, I'm not too sure though......

Its dark and cold out there now.

If it really is just off Nairn Harbour thats only 7 Miles from Inverness Airport and about 12 from Kinloss, it seems unlikely that neither airfield would have been aware of the aircraft. Also the area is very popular with seals which could explain the "person" seen.

Reports that a light aircraft had crashed into the Moray Firth have been described as "a false alarm with good intent".
