OK, nothing to do with Flying but has anyone else noticed the countryside seems to be plagued with swarms of badgers?

Time was they were uber rare and only ever seen on film but now I see one flattened on a road on just about every trip.

Are we facing an epidemic of badgers overrunning our countryside?

:bored:

This belongs in miltary aircrew how exactly?

Is there not a Farmers website or a general chit chat one where this could have been raised?

Are we talking about the "badgers" that used to appear on RN flight decks?

Navaleye said "you could strafe them"

I think that depends on the definition of Strafe Navaleye. Apparently the RAF and the Parachute Regiment differ on what is and what isnt a strafe!

Is 'swarm' really the collective noun for Badgers?

The Nice thing about the military forum is that you get military humour....
Where else would you get to hear about pubic topiary, curry exhaust and aeroplanes in the same thread!!!
PPrune has suddenly got interesting again - and in spite of the sapping of morale across the board - Humour makes everything seem better somehow..
ps. Everyone should get a dog to blame for the 'odd mishap' in public...! usually the wife's doing...!:bored:

The correct collective noun for a number of badgers is a cete or colony.

Of course it should really be a 'Theakston' or 'Vindaloo'....

Mind you, back in the days of the AMTC at North Luffenham, a post curry and beer 'collection of badgers' could reach epic proportions in a 25K-45K in 5 sec chamber run!

Hello, my names Billy the Badger
I'm about 40cm long and a little bit hairy,
And the farmer likes to
BASH MY HEAD IN WITH A SPADE
AND THROW ME ON THE ROAD
TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE I'VE BEEN RUN OVER

If that is really your opinion, then you are a sad individual. A farmer, with plenty of land available to him, wouldn't need to bother to 'THROW ME ON THE ROAD TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE I'VE BEEN RUN OVER'. Your level of wildlife knowledge is woeful - do you think a badger just hangs around waiting for it?

Best thing for an infestation of Badgers is a flight of Lightnings... I think there's one in South Africa... give them a call, why don't you?:hmm:
