one wonders if the EU's recent cooling-off on bringing in Turkey had owt to do with that.

The US provides Turkey with a large amount of military aid, they will get preferential terms and funding for 'Dave' as they do for a large amount of their military equipment.

Shame that this favoured nation status sometimes blows up in the the septics faces - such as when the would not allow the US to come through Turkey into Northern Iraq before GW2.

At the end of the day what will Greece want now this has become public, methinks chances for Typhoon there have just become unlikely.

one wonders if the EU's recent cooling-off on bringing in Turkey had owt to do with that.

Given the Assemblee Nationale's upcoming vote on criminalising anyone who denies that the Turks committed genocide in 1915 I would've expected all of the damage to be inflicted on a Rafale bid; Germany's long been a friend of Turkey and EADS would surely have exploited every contact it's made over the years to keep Eurofighter in the game.

Not impossible that the EU talks were an influence, but I'm more inclined to think that F 35 has the 'newer-shinier-stealthier' lustre and the Turks, thinking like many other governments in terms of industrial offsets, will be angling for a decent chunk of work on the big prestige fighter programme.
