Just wondering why this cycle is such an odd number of days.

What's odd about a 4 week cycle?

It means that it will always be released on the same day of the week.

You will be amazed at how many things in the world revolve around a 28 day cycle - probably goes back to the pagan days of moons and all sorts of other unmentionable things.
