The thing that caught my eye was the cut of 56 JSF and the purchase of additional F-18s to replace them...

I guess that will push the cost of our JSF through the roof. Any bets on getting just one carrier rather than 2 in order to balance the cost? :E

What that means is that more of the UK JSFs will be expensive low rate initial production (LRIP) aircraft - perhaps most, depending how long full production is delayed. The Navy, meanwhile, is clearly showing preference for the Super Hornet - which is a bird in the hand with excellent avionics - over the JSF.
