I'm after some advice, myself and the other half are off to Montreal in December. We would like to go business class, has anyone used Swiss, KLM or Air Canada? If so what did you think of it etc.

Would have liked to go B.A but the tickets are £1000 more per person.

Thanks

Air Canada - If you get one of their 767s as I did a few months back you get all the fabulous offering of business class minus one or two items as follows: In flight entertainment (except a portable DVD player which you scrap with the other pax for a very limited choice of film and then the battery runs out). Food so inedible the entire biz class section complains and it gets chucked. You will see Cabin Crew for about an hour at the start and end but not in between and woe betide daring to either ask for a drink at the seat if they arent doing the rounds (all 2 of them) or dare to approach the Galley. The seats were once class leading about 10 years ago, however they are still the same ones now so somewhat behind the times and completely shagged- the electrics might work but dont count on it.
I belirve some flights are on an ABus of some description and much better but I have only 2nd hand accounts.
So dont chance it. Save your money and go WTP+ with BA.

The ZRH/YUL flight is Swiss metal with an Air Canada codshare on it, so it doesn't matter, on that route, if you buy AC or LX you get an LX flight and product/service.

When I flew to LHR in business class (or Executive Class as they call it) on AC, I deliberately chose to go via Toronto, rather than my local airport (Ottawa) so I could ride the Airbus rather than 767. I was thoroughly unimpressed when I saw a 767 parked at the gate. Unfortunately, manintheback's assessment is spot on regarding their product and cabin crew. I am going to Paris later this year via Montreal, very relieved to by on the 330.

I've been underwhelmed by Swiss as well as KLM, but to be fair, I've never been in the pointy end with them.

I regularly fly the Ottawa/LHR route in the 767 in the back, and am waiting for day when the 787 is introduced. It might be some time...

The Swiss long haul business class product is good and is also fine value.

I can only comment on KLM Business Class on the 744.

Fairly good seats, reclines to something like 150 degress. Personal video screen where movies run in continuos loop (5 or 6 movies to choose from). Attentive service. Very pleasant and cheerful (They even make an effort to remember you name). Refreshments available in the galley throughout the flight.
