DVD write protect [Archive]

Whilst trying to re-wite a dvd (a task completed many times without problems) a window message tells me that the re-write cannot be accomplished and that I must remove the 'write protection'. How do I do this.

Help appreciated, thank you.

I would try erasing the DVD, and trying again.

is the dvd rewritable? (sorry for the dumb question but its not obvious from the initial posting) ;)
