To indicate how bad this "emergency" was:The players were all right, they are still playing cards - it takes a lot to disrupt the card school. There was no panic or anything.

Do Autoglass still stock B737-200 windscreens?
Probably a few scrap ones lying around at Bournemouth after the Ryanair -200's were scrapped there?

The Manchester Evening News got to the core of the problem:
"Ryan Giggs in Plane Drama"!
They also said the aircraft made an emergency stop (I know what they meant, but I keep getting the picture of a 737 imitating a Harrier!), and said the cracked windscreen caused a judder and reduction in speed - presumably from all the drag from the frosted glass!
