Hmmm. Wonder if it's compatable with PRCs? Still, look forward to getting it in about 15 years time.:ugh:

Yes it looked a good idea to me on the face of it. But then there's often a gap between idea and capability, so it would be useful to get to try it out or at least see some test results of a live trial.

Trouble is, cash is short and likely to get shorter yet so unless someone can get a campaign running like the C-130 guys, it's not likely to appear on anyone's buy list soon.

Also I'm a bit wary of taking US kit at face value without real evidence as their salesmanship is usually 1st class and the kit not always to expectation.

However, at face value it looks a v useful bit of kit to tie into CSAR. I wonder if Boscombe has had a look?

Magazine crossed my desk Defence or somesuch, a GovNet publication. Despite the name the editorial was a fairly robust one about nuclear power and nuclear weapons.

Also an interesting one about the PRC or derivative and its GPS mode. It would retain the PRC ranging function in case of GPS spoofing or jamming. Sounds a bit adjacent to CSEL.

Will try and remember to look at the magazine when I am next in the office.

Pontius

Wouldn't mind a ref so I can look it up, if you find it.

GlosMike, a google search turned it up:

http://www.govnet.co.uk/publications.php?magazine=2&ID=745&PageNum=3

There are 3 articles including the FRES one. The PRC article is not on the web but this should help you get a copy. Distribution is free.
