As much as I love seeing the Gazelle fly about for the Army it can't go on forever, could someone enlighten me what will replace that lovely aircraft?

As mentioned on the Privatised Battlefield Support Helos thread on the mil forum, the MOD as thinking of replacing all 119 Gazelles with 20 replacement helicopters and so I guess we'd be looking to get a light reccy heli.

I wonder how many of those 119 Gazelles would make it to the civvy market and how much would they cost! I might start saving my money now ;)

The Gazelle has been in service for some 35 years now, somehow I don’t think that the MoD will be too worried about the depreciation rate of its replacement.

I heard that the AW149 and EC725 are under considereation by MOD to replace Gazelles, Seakings, & Pumas.

Don't think a single engine machine will be in the running.

Knowing the Military they will probably drag something older out of storage and use that............... 109 would be good as they operate some already with 7 Sqn?

No one has mentioned the EC130. Or does that fall under the Squirrel flag?
