I believe the registrations assigned to MyTravel Airways (formerly Airtours International) aircraft were based on company directors initials, rather than the typical sequential pattern used by most UK airlines.

Is there any truth in this and if so is there a list available of the directors / staff members the aircraft are registered after?

If memory serves, some of the Air Europe 737-200s around 1979/1980 (?)had "vanity" reggies for the same reason. And, no, I can't remember them!!! Anyone else?

...I think one of the 732's was something like G-BMHG, with HG = Harry Goodman?

Monarch did the same during the 80's/90's.

...and Air UK with its 146s:

UKHP (Harold Payne, Dir Engineering)
UKJF (Jim French, Commercial)
UKSC (Stuart Carson, Dir Finance)
UKRC (Robert Coleman, Ground)
UKSH (Stephen Hanscombe, Big Cheese)
UKAG (Andrew Gray, also a Grand Camembert)

I think there might be others - my tiny brain has given up...
