I'll be there - what do you mean by "one run" by XS904? Is there only one Lightning run during the day, or am I being dense....

Hi JC, yes you read correctly we only intend to run 904 once as its not our day and we dont see any of the gate takings, we have a souveniers tent and XR728 will be on cockpit tours all day, we need to raise just over £1500 before we break even on fuel and insurnance which covers one run durning the day, and we are desparately trying to put money in the kitty for the 30k needed for the QRA hanger floor.

904 should do her stuff with Denis Brooks at the helm around 12noon

See you there

Oh how tempting it must be for the Lightning pilots to not abort their aborted take-offs.;)

I'd love to see a Lightning climbing near vertical from the runway again without having to go to SA.

#30K for the shed floor?

And WTF happened to me Quid sign?

12,000 sq ft, 18" to 6" deep =
£18,000 in agregate and movement to site,
£5000 for 2 weeks labour and plant hire to mix and lay
£3000 for shuttering
£2000 for steel reinforcing mesh
£2000 for water supply to site (a main needs laying)

Its our best price so far and Ive been working on it for over 12 months, many companies have been aproached re freebies but once they see the size of the job and Bruntingthorpes location, all have cryed off and and given us the cold shoulder, all these prices are cost with no VAT.

If you can get us a better quote please be my guest I can send you all the techical info for the job

Here's the latest shot of the site

This has so far cost £35K and two years of part time work

Hi all, I know its not miltary, but I couldnt resist taking this shot of the Brunty 747 yesterday at the Asda families day.

We had a good day taking a few quid on cockpit tours which all helps for the fuel bill :)

Maybe its the way ahead for the supermarkets :) :)

Engine change on the Bucc, should running by early next year.

That is an interesting way to do an engine change! Wasn't there any gantries left hanging around in Stafford. Must be murder lining up the trunnion when you are putting it back in:eek:

Loved the Lightning yesterday, even with a single run. Brings back fond memories...

I know that this is not perhaps the opportune time to ask, but have you considered applying for an HLF bid? As a museum, you may get a more sympathetic hearing particularly if you stress the educational aspect (tie it in to physics and history?)

Hi, glad you enjoyed it, we certainly did and raised some money for the Q shed as well :)
728 went crowd shy, No1 refused to start with a brand new snag, the No2 burner is a snag we have been working on for a while, once the dust has settled we will be pulling the pipe for a deeper look.

As for HLF we have been down this road about two years ago, spent many hours on it, its a long story but basicly we dont qualify for funding.

Cheers

Yes all OK, old 728 is showing her age though, we need to finish the Q shed to get them under cover as these things are all due to being outside
