Last Sunday August 6 I was camping with the kids at Detling, near Maidstone.

To my delight we were buzzed by a Spitfire for about five minutes. He ended up by tearing down the hill towards Maidstone at just a couple of hundred feet. It was a great sight, and the sound of that Merlin!

Any idea which Spit this was? Was anything going on at Biggin that day?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Edited to note I've cocked the headline up and you can't edit them. Blast!

This could have been Peter Teichman's Spitfire XI G-MKXI/PL983 (blue with invasion stripes) or G-BUOS/TD248 (Camo markings) from Duxford that were both displaying at Woodchurch that afternoon. The Seafire (RN grey) from North Weald was also at Woodchurch. Take your pick

This could also have been Peter Monk's Mk.9 TA805 / (G-PMNF) , camo with a tail band, which flew by the Eagle Heights raptor center nr.Eynsford at 1245hrs that day.

Freeman.

Many thanks to you both. My betting is on Freeman's suggestion.

The time was about 1220 and it was camoflaged so perhaps Peter was having a bit of fun before toddling off to Eynsford.

Great to have seen it!

Edited to add that Peter Monk apparently lives in Maidstone!

If was about 12.20 then it was not the Woodchurch aircraft as they were all on the bround at that time
