I ran across this the other day....XM satellite radio provides a service for about 50 USD per month that allows you to listen to music by means of your GPS and aircraft intercom. It also provides some very neat weather and flight planning information.

Anyone remember hand crank tuning of radio's and manual loop ADF being state of the art along with LF Airways?

The poor man's weather radar. We have this installed in some of our small ships, and the pilots love it. They can get a picture of the radar display, only a few minutes old (5, IIRC) and see where the clear places are. Without it, all they can go on is a verbal description of the same thing from a non-pilot comm spec or from a pirep. Some technology is slowly coming into the Gulf of Mexico.

SAS. I've got XM in my bird and it's only ??? 12.99 I think. In the morning I can listen to talk radio and in the aftrnoon I can usually find a baseball game to help with the boredom. Radar would be nice if going across the gulf or cross country but I'm rarely out farther than 20 miles and we have a DTN at the office.

Any one know if we are getting a similar system for the UK or if there is already one.
