Cheered me up after all the negative press recently!

Bet the microlight pilot gets charged with 'closer than 500ft....' and the thieves get let off with a caution.

The really astonishing thing about this story is that the police actually managed to apprehend them at all. Some years ago my partner and I followed a villain along an A class road (for about 38 miles)and talking to plod by mobile phone until we had to pull off for fuel. Plod never did stop the vehicle I learned later.

Fantastic! A bit of crime fighting's good for the community, eh?

Best be cautious about being too good at it, though, or the CAA will want us to get some sort of authorisation/license to do it.

i like the bit about the (first-time) instructee 'screaming with pleasure' during the chase...

Did anyone think to ask the instructee why he was screaming?

Would have been better if the infernal caravan and thieving pikers had been chased off a cliff into the North Sea - one less to clog the roads.
