I understand that Cathay just bought Dragonair. Are they going to keep the airlines seperate or merge them? Is this good or bad for the Cathay guys? Also, what is a typical trip like if you are a DEFO out of JFK? Thanks:ok:

The Dragonair brand will be around for another 6 years at least.
There is talk of repainting all KA freighters in Cathay colours within 2/3 years!

Any idea what are they repainting the dragonair freighter into? Will it be cathay colours or will the dragonair freighter be absorbed into the joint-ventures in Shanghai?

There are numerous advantages to running 2 brands and 2 AOC's. Not the least of which is the need for a fighting brand to deal with HKExpress and CR/Hainan should they become a nuisance.
The freighters will be absorbed in terms of crewing and the T&Cs merged...but only God knows why one would have a 743 as a freighter unless you want to use it for staff travel to Manchester.
The regionally configered 330's will also be asbsorbed gradually. Dragon will cease NRT, TPE and BKK as soon as the slots can be transferred.
Basically all the buses will be quarantined into a separate colony to do all the local bitsies...then the new 777's will get OZ and all the A34 rosters. The A34's will go...as soon as we can find a mug to take them.

FWIW,
