Morning,

Can anyone shed any light if there are any decent schools out there in the north west of this fine country (possibly in an hour from Manchester).
Thinking Modular is the way forward for me but dont fancy trailing down Oxford or Bournemouth for the main ones every week due to family commitments blah blah.

If i have to i will, Or just leave the missus:ok:

Any help will be apprieciated .

Hi Bluepeely

Have you looked at Ravenair in Liverpool? They do all the commercial stuff and are a nice bunch.

Hi,

Also believe there are a few (2 or 3) training schools at Barton Aerodrome (bout 20 mins drive from Manchester city centre if my memory serves me correctly). If you have a look in the latest "where to fly guide" there are plenty of contact numbers for the schools that reside there. Good luck!

The only commercial schools in the NW area are:

Ravenair at Liverpool airport - supposed to be a good set-up I've heard - flown at PPL level with them not commercially

JD Aviation @ manchester - small school run by an airtraffic controller at M/cr; couple of aircraft, 2-3 instructors - I've heard very good reputation, 1-2-1 instruction and flexible timing, also all CPL/IR on aircraft for same price as other schools on sim

Multiflight @ LBA - large set-up with good facilities

Leeds Flying School @ LBA - smaller set-up but good reputation

I've visited them all and all have their own plus & minuses - all similar price - depends on whether you want a larger school such as Multiflight or a smaller less well known one such as JD

Hope this helps:ok:
