A SAFAIR C130 (reg. number ZS-RSG) will be leaving Johannesburg Intl on Friday (30 June) on a flight to East Midlands - via Entebbe (Uganda) and Luxor (Egypt) - with an ETA of 13:00 Sunday 2nd July. It will be stationed there for at least the next 5 months under contract to an oil company and will be manned by the South African crew who flew it over. A second crew will be joining them in a month or so. The C130 which was stationed at Dublin under a similar contrat is now moving over to Canada.

Will this mean a second Herc stationed at EMA along with the current Air Contractors one then?

If the one there at the present moment has a South African registration (ZS-...) number then it will be moving over to Canada (also under Air Contactors control). If not, then there will be two Hercs at EMA - both under Air Contractors' flag.

The departure of ZS-RSG has been posponed for 48 hrs due to delays by the Department of Internal Affairs' in the issuing of certain documents. It has been confirmed that the Herc, currently at EMA, is the one that was stationed at Dublin and it will be leaving for Canada once RSG arrives. Incidentally, Air Contractors is an international subsidiary of SAFAIR.

There has not been any Air Contractors Herc based at Dublin for a long time - unless for administrative reasons Dublin may be cited as its base.
