Helicopter accident in Antwerp earlier today

Just for info to all you rotor heads. Two helicopters had a mid air collision earlier today in antwerp, Belgium. The two helicopters were working for RTBF to cover the Belgian cycling championship. As far as i understand it one aircraft was taking off and the other was landing when they touched at approximately 150' from the ground. One helicopter was able to make a forced landing whilst the other unfortunately crashed. Three people were injured , one of them serious.

helicopters involved in this accident were a Jet Ranger and an AS355F2 !

Info is correct.
Know the guys real well, but as the inquiry runs, no one is supposed to "rumor" I'am afraid.
Except perhaps that they have been doing most sport events in Belgium including F1 for many years, accident free...

The Jetranger does not look as bad as the AStar does. Obviously more important are the persons involved (four injured, one of them seriously). I hope all of them will recover fast.

Condition of the seriously injured pilot seems to be much better this morning.
His chest was badly bruised raising fear of damaged organs, luckily everything is intact.

The article claims the accident was the result of the two tail rotors making contact .

The AS355 OO-HSH was on the UK register as
G-OBIG

Bell 206 took off, followed shortly by the AS355.
Main rotor on AS355 hit the tail of the 206, as it was gaining height much faster.
206 pilot claims he was in the "blind spot" of the 355.

Injured pilot and camera crew have fully recovered, second pilot had another flight later that day.

Tail boom of 355 looks like it has come to rest twisted about 100 degrees clockwise in relation to cabin, viewed from behind. also appears to have at least 13 strike marks along its length.??????????

Maybe the photo could be blown up to reveal from which direction the strike marks originated?

Reminds me of a photo I have seen at Adelaide oz where a single, yes being hand swung, had jumped the chocks and chewed its way perfectly along the fuse of a light twin. It looked like a loaf of sliced bread.
