I'm taking a look at them at the moment for future reference - I know they're big, enormously powerful and maybe slightly unpredictable, and I don't think I could fly one without jumping into at least a Pitts or similar first, with the appropriate basic/advanced aero training.

Does anyone know what they're like to fly? Various sources say they have VERY light controls, can hover in the vertical and make tractors seem fragile.

Thoughts? Opinions? Well timed offers to fly one? :E

Flew one (Su 29) once some time ago, so others will have a lot more current experience, but from what I recall: comfortable, well-built, reclined seating position, long stick, very light in pitch with little feedback - more so than UK/US planes, very high roll rate and plenty of power although I think it's only the uprated (450 hp?) versions of the single-seater that can hover. Not too difficult to take-off and land compared to e.g. Pitts. The one I flew (a Russian one in Bulgaria) had throat mikes that were most impressive as well.
