CO detection

Just wondering .. can anyone recommend a good CO detector for the average cockpit ? I'm referring to something a little more sophisticated than the "dot-in-the-middle-of-some-cardboard" type.

Anyone use a battery/wired detector ?

The one I use is made by BW and is called GasAlert.

The best URL I can find right now is to a version of it but it looks the same:

It costs about £300 and the battery lasts a whole year of continuously ON operation.

It's excellent, even picking up CO emissions from the plane that landed before me.

By coincidence I saw this

From the description it appears to run for 24 months and is used so best check with the seller how long it's got left to run before the batteries die.

The Gasalert I have uses a standard lithium camera battery (a CR2 or something vaguely sounding like that) which costs about 3 quid.

MDC, be very wary of that advert on EBAY. The actual product itself has a two year life - not the battery. In other words, it's a disposable detector that you must bin after 24 months usage !
