At last! After 4 years ground-bound, I'm finally airborne again. It feels soooo good.:ok:

In the last few weeks I've had a few flights with Whirlybird, and I had my LPC this week. Success.

Thanks Helen, for 'de-rusting' me, and Phil for signing me off. Watch out airspace users in the Midlands, here I come!

When I got back into flying after a long break raising kids & paying a mortgage I was just so keen to get airborne again. First thing I did was to ring CASA & get the name of the nearest DAME (designated aviation medical examiner) to renew my flying medical. I never thought to ask which particular branch of medicine he specialised in.

I rang the surgery, made an appointment & only found out, when I turned up, that the nearest DAME was in fact a gynaecologist! So there I was, a middle aged male sitting expectantly in the waiting room for my turn with the Doc.

I tried not to stare too much at the huge tummies surrounding me & their owners, for their part, seemed happy to ignore the ugly duckling in their midst.

Congratulations Robbo. Come in and see me - no PPR needed. If the car is in the drive I am home.

Thanks folks!

22Clipper: 'expectantly' indeed!

Muffin: I'll probably take you up on that. Whirly suggested a visit. Just need to reawaken my Nav skills...

Mate I spent the first half of my flying career wondering where I was? These days I just glance at that GPS screen.

Take your point about the skills though. Turned the damn thing off for half an hour on a trip across a central Oz desert once & tried my luck with just DR & compass. Ended up 10 mins flying time off track!

Taught me a lesson though theses days I carry a spare!
